Keller For England

Kasey Keller's agent, Colin Pomford, has revealed that there have been `limited enquiries` from teams in England concerning the goalkeeper, but the American`s situation all depends on how things pan out at his current club, Rayo Vallecano.
Reports in England had suggested that Keller had grown disillusioned with being left out of the team at Rayo Vallecano, but Pomford believes that he is on the point of returning to the first-team

The former Leicester City custodian performed consistently well last season, but dislocated his shoulder and missed the final eight games, allowing Julen Lopetegui to step in.

Lopetegui, 34, is a fans` favourite and gained the number one jersey at the start of this season, after Keller suffered a finger injury just days before the Liga kick-off.

However, Pomford believes that Keller, who performed superbly in Thursday night`s 0-0 Uefa Cup draw with Lokomotiv Moscow, will be recalled by coach Juande Ramos in the very near future.

Pomford also revealed that Keller is out of contract at the end of the season and would not require a work permit due to him having British residency, but believes that Rayo want to keep him.

Pomford said: "There have been enquiries from three Premier league clubs. They have been limited enquires at this stage.

"Basically we have got to find out what is going on here, because he is on the point of getting back in the team. Until Kasey got injured, he was statistically the number one keeper in the country."

Of the future, Pomford added: "His contract is up at the end of this season and I am sure his club would like to renew his contract, but the advantageous thing about the UK is that he has permanent UK residency.

"The reason Kasey has not been in the team in the league is that two days before the season started he phoned me and said he had broken his little finger.

"The other lad came in and has done very very well, but I am sure that sooner or later Kasey will be back in the first-team.

"There is interest in him in Spain, a couple of clubs have contacted me and it is just a case of wait and see.

"He is still under contract at the moment and we know we will have options and it is a case of listening to whoever wants to talk to us."
