Van Der Gouw For America?

MANCHESTER UNITED keeper Raimond van der Gouw has revealed that, at 37, he may make a move away from Old Trafford, to try a `new adventure.`
Van der Gouw is understudy to French international Fabien Barthez and his opportunities are limited, although he did play in the 3-3 draw at Charlton on Saturday, and he has hinted that he now wants regular football in the twilight of his career.

The Dutchman has been a steady figure since his move from Vitesse Arnhem in 1996, never questioning why he has not figured in the first team on a regular basis, but it now seems that he wants a new challenge.

Speaking of his future, van der Gouw said: "There have been signs of interest in me coming from America. It is all the same to me which manager I play under and I am open to another exciting adventure.

"I would naturally need to discuss it with my family, but I would certainly love to play in Florida. I have still got several good years left in me.

"Another option would be to go back to Holland"

The Dutchman is out of contract at the end of the season and the overtures from across the Atlantic are certain to alarm United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, who has grown to appreciate the shot stopper`s reliability, especially with Fabien Barthez proving alarmingly injury prone and Mark Bosnich far from happy.

Whether the Scot can entice van der Gouw to extend his stay is not yet clear, but he is almost certain to try and persuade him that Old Trafford is the correct place to finish his career.
